How to get from Bordeaux Airport to the city centre
I’m going to tell you one by one all the options you have.
1. Bus from Bordeaux Airport to the centre: bus 1+
The cheapest option is the 1+ bus , which leaves right outside the airport. Tickets can be bought from a machine right next to the bus station and cost 1.70 euros .
It is a normal, regular bus: it leaves from Saint Jean Central Station , runs through the city centre and the final stop is at the airport.
Be careful! It makes many stops and it can take you around 30 minutes to get from the city centre to the airport, or vice versa. However, the price is very low.
You can check the schedules and the different stops here.
Another option to get to the city centre is to take a taxi . As you know, it is always an option, especially when there are several of you and you want to get to the city centre more comfortably.
However, like everything else, comfort will cost you around 25-30 euros . There are plenty of taxis right outside the arrivals terminal, so you won’t have any trouble finding one.
Another option we always recommend is to book a pick-up service with Civitatis . They work great and the prices are quite good. You can book a transfer service from Bordeaux Airport to the city centre here.
3. Car rental at Bordeaux Airport
Finally, if your idea is to rent a car to visit more French cities or to get to know the Aquitaine region well, you can rent a car.
Almost all flights are open at Bordeaux Airport.Almost all major car rental companies : Hertz, Sixt, Europcar or Avis.
4. Private transfer with civitatis
Another very comfortable option (and also the one we recommend) if you want to be more relaxed is to book a private transfer service .
In what situations do we recommend it? Well, whether you are several people or you arrive in Bordeaux at night, or if you want to forget about dragging your suitcases around half the city, it is your best option.
In this case, we recommend booking through Civitatis. We always do it with them whenever we can and we have never (ever) had any problems , so we recommend them 100% .

Are Free Tours Free? Tips on how much to give and some recommendations
I’m sorry to say that even though they are called free tours, they are not actually free at all . You can go on the free tour and decide not to tip the guide, yes, but keep in mind that it is his job after all.
The normal and correct thing to do is to give a small tip to the guide. How much should you give? Well, we usually go for around 10-15 euros per person . Although it depends a bit on what we liked or how prepared the guide was.
As I told you before, free tours are the best option when you go to a city you don’t know. It’s a fantastic option for someone who lives there to tell you a little about the best things to do, some plans, how public transport works…etc.
Well, I hope that this compilation of the best free tours in Bordeaux has been useful to you and that you are encouraged to do one. Not only the free tour, but also Bordeaux, we are sure that you will love it.
